VIDEO: Ciara Gives Up The Good Girl Routine, Is After "Love Sex Magic"
So it was with great anticipation that I awaited the video's premiere. And the first forty seconds are sexy as hell, the electric energy between the two singers is palpable and raw. The breathing on the neck, the little tongue flicks and the stance is beyond flirtatious. But then it gets really exploitative, with Ciara becoming a mere sexual plaything. Indeed, her role is sexual furniture, at one point Justin leans against her bent-over frame, like she's a bench with an ass to smack - something he does later in the clip. I'm extremely disappointed by this video. I love sexy Justin, but this really crosses a line from sex god to pervert. It's uncomfortable, but watch:

OMG! New Justin Timberlake And Someone Who Is Not Me! WORST SONG EVER!
Ahem, the real Paul is back and ready to review. "Love Sex Magic" sounds like it would have been at home JT's last two projects, his own Future Sex/Love Sounds (based on the title as well as the similarities to "Sexy Ladies" on that disc) and the throbbing disco/hip-hop hybrid beats on Madonna's Hard Candy. Ciara sounds decent, she will never have huge range but the song doesn't require it. The beat is Off The Wall-era Micheal Jackson and the heavy breathing from the Timberlake gives me a thriller. It's a snappy pop track with plenty of sexy sass. I approve. Now if only this was the part where Justin Timberlake and me fall in love... Listen:

(Belated) Year End List: The Hot Men Of 2008
The Chris Daughtry Award (For Hottest American Idol Rocker): David Cook
The Dave Leiberman "If You Can't Stand The Hotness, Stay Out Of The Kitchen" Award (For Hottest TV Chef): MFB Richard from Top ChefYeah, Jeff might've been the conventionally sexy one, and Richard did have a habit of wearing "funny" t-shirts. But his boyish crush on head judge Tom Collichio and his full admission of having an "inner queen" in the first episode alone cemented his place as runner-up to David Cook in the Hottest Reality Bear Cubs Competition in my mind. And once he left the show, not even Martha Stewart could make it worth watching anymore.
I know what you're thinking, is there really such a thing as a hot blogger? I know conventional stereotypes suggest days-old facial hair growth and bathrobes covering beer bellies and comic book tees are the costume of choice for blog writers and I would imagine there are still some who hold to that look. But there are some choice blogging hotties out there, from celeb bloggers like Kanye and model Bryan David Thomas (probably NSFW) to funny, witty cuties like D'Luv at Chart Rigger and Andy Towle at Towleroad. But only Juice With Junior's blog god makes great great fashion choices, is ridiculously funny and smart and has a rather sexy smile (see his video ender for the Juice With Junior Awards above.) Oh, and he comments on my blog... not that I was swayed at all by that. (Editor's note: Yes I was.) I dub him Hot Blogger 2008. Video via Juice With Junior.
The "Dear God, Don't Let Him End Up Looking Like Bruce Jenner In A Couple Years" Award (For Hottest Olympic Athlete): Matthew MitchamI bet you thought it was gonna be the Phelps. Yeah, he's got a great body but a consistently dumb look on his face. Matthew has a nice body, a brilliant smile and really great hair. It's all about the hair for me, sorry. Plus, as the first openly gay diver to win a gold medal, he's really a role model for young athletes. You don't have to hide any part of who you are to be a sexy, confident and athletically gifted man. Oh, and did I mention he was hot as ballz? Picture via Hunk Du Jour.
The Dreamy Vampire Of 2008 Award (For Hottest Actor In A Vampire Film Or TV Series, duh): Robert Pattison from TwilightI'm sorry, but he is just fucking hot. The rest of these guys have a lot more going on than their faces, but once and a while you need just pretty. And damn, he is pretty. Picture via Twilight Poison.
Plus, the usual suspects:
Justin Timberlake (from the "4 Minutes" video)
David Beckham (from the Armani underwear ads)
Freddie Rodriguez (from Ugly Betty. All the Betty screen caps of Freddie I could find were shite, so I picked this random bit of hotness. Don't know where it comes from, but who cares? A soaked white tee fine with me...)
The Men of Lost Like Lays potato chips, I can't have just one. From Daniel Dae Kim's anxious husband and father to be Jin (sixth from left) to Matthew Fox's daddy issues ridden doctor feel-damn-good (fifth from left) to the always sexually charged (and shirtless) southern boy Sawyer (played by Josh Holloway, third from left) to Naveen Andrews' former Iraqi soldier with the hair I would kill to run my fingers through (third from right) and more recent additions Henry Ian Cusick (far right) and Ken Leung (not pictured) I wouldn't mind being stranded on a haunted island with these boys.Monday, August 11, 2008
Five Songs On Shuffle, Volume 22
"The Only Promise That Remains" - Reba McIntire/Justin Timberlake Reba Duets
This gorgeous Celtic love ballad, co-written by Mr Sexy back himself, is a departure for both artists. Justin is known for his hip-hop flavored pop hits, and Reba for her giant soaring ballads and catchy country-pop with a life lesson at the center. This is a simple, beautiful love song with Justin's soft falsetto harmonizing, but never overpowering, Reba's always-stunning vocals and a gentle guitar and string back-ground.
"LDN" - Lily Allen Alright, Still
Lily is riding her bike through my dream town, and sees what I would miss. Is that fancy looking couple actually a pimp/ho combo? Did nice young man just bash that old ladies over the head? And is that sunny Calypso music playing underneath a snarky lyric? Indeed.
"That Time" - Regina Spektor Begin to Hope
Regina reminiscences about the fun times: when she only ate tangerines for a month, when she would only read Shakespeare, when she and I would kiss anywhere except the mouth, when we broke and bummed cigs. Oh, and remember that time when I OD'd, for the second time? Yeah, fun times!
"Anytime You Like" - Robyn Robyn
Over a strange barely-there beat, Robyn waits to be told those three little words. You can tell her anytime you like...
"Marry Me" - St. Vincent Marry Me
Starting out like a lost Broadway tune, it gets quirky; and fast! She wants do what "married people do... what Mary and Joseph did, without the kid" over a strange drum and horn and piano beat.

Five Songs On Shuffle, Volume 20
"Boys (Co-ed Remix)" - Britney Spears feat. Pharrell Williams Greatest Hits: My Perogitive
"Boys/Sometimes a girl just needs one" Brit-Brit coos over a hot Neptunes beat (the same one as ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake's "Senorita") before her love for a certain ghetto fabulous one took her over the edge into insanity. Remember when Britney was the pop princess with perfectly sexy/sweet hooks? Yeah, we like that one better.
"Crazy on You" - Heart The Essential Heart
The acoustic guitar intro that leads up to Ann Wilson going crazy on you is sleek Cali rock at it's finest. But once Ann hits the chorus, you know she done went and sang it! Not as intense as "Alone" or insane as "Barracuda" but there is nothing wrong with any Heart track, in my opinion.
"Walk Away" - Kelly Clarkson Breakaway
From the burned copy my sister gave me, on which she wrote "Kelly Clarkson - Break Way" comes the song with the best video from that modern classic pop album. We've all done it, rocked out to some Kelly in the car, while at work or in the public restroom. Kelly, I don't think I can walk away.
"Lovestoned/I Think She Know" - Justin Timberlake Future Sex/Love Sounds
The last two and a half minutes or so of this track, the "I Think She Knows Interlude" is a perfect pop song in and of itself. The soft falsetto of Justin's voice riding on a swirl of strings, beat and guitar strumming is perfect. I could listen to just that part all day.
"Sexual Eruption (Fyre Department Remix)" - Snoop Dogg feat. Robyn Sexual Eruption [Fyre Department Remix] - Single
The hottest remix this year, hands down. The beat is not self-conciously retro anymore, Robyn brings her Scadinavian cool to a new naughty chorus, and a perfect dirty-pop track is born.

Five Songs On Shuffle, Vol. 17
"Stop Me Medley (Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before/You Keep Me Hanging On)" - Mark Ronson feat. Daniel Merriweather Version
Mark Ronson's blend of sixties pop and modern beats fascinated me last year. Besides his own album, his production work on albums by Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse solidified his reputation as a whiz-kid producer. The medley of songs by The Smiths and The Supremes is awesome, the horns and beat make it funky, but also sweet and slow.
"Can't Complain" - Nickel Creek Reasons Why: The Very Best
In this passionate ballad, Chris Thile tells of going with a girl who his buddy stands up, then things get sour. They move in together, he cheats, but he told her "I could love her/I told her I could lie/so she can't complain"
"4 Minutes" - Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake 4 Minutes (Single)
The second this track was available for legal download, I was on it like white on rice. How could I resist the siren call of Madonna working with production master Timbaland on a brassy marching band beat, while getting an assist from my boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Mmmm... Justin Timberlake ::eyes glaze over:: Wait, where was I? Oh, this song rocks!
"Breaking Free" - Porter Block Guilt By Association
I have no idea who Porter Block are, but by covering the top ten single from Disney Channel sensation High School Musical, they have taken over my iPod. Who thought you could take a cheesy duet and turn it into a three minute modern rock jam? I'm guessing they are slightly embarrassed by this contribution to the Guilt By Association album of indie rock groups covering pop guilty pleasures, since they don't mention it on their official website. Be proud! You done good.
"Kiss Me" - Sixpence None The Richer Kiss Me/Love (Single)
This jangly bit of dreamy modern rock blew up after showing up on Dawson's Creek and She's All That. But Sixpence None The Richer started life as a Christian Rock band with minor hits, but a devoted following. But even a Christian Rock fanatic like me knew them best for "Kiss Me" and that's OK.

Madonna Video Down... Until Sunday!
Did anybody else notice a lot more jiggle to the Material Girl's bosoms? She must've changed exercise plans, cause the girls were much flatter in the Confessions videos. Not that I'm dissing, she still looks hella good.

New Madonna Video - "4 Minutes"
OK, new Madonna video, probably won't be on the internets very long. It's awesome, like a Madonna video should be. It's kind of strange, Madonna and Justin Timberlake are walking through these sets with people eating and shopping and making out and stuff. And this strange darkness is following them. And it eats the people. Only not like they disappear, it's like a cross cut action, like from a science class or dentist office. Seriously strange. Ooh! And Madonna and Justin totally like almost kiss twice! But the S&M theme I'd heard about is gone, which makes me sad 'cause I was hoping for some Justin in a leather harness and Madonna whipping him. But it's still friggin' awesome, except the dancing could have been better. I still love it! Oh, and Madge is looking so fine! The hair is on fire and the bod is smoking!

Download Madonna "4 Minutes" on iTunes Today.
As for the song, I blogged about it when it first leaked, and I still love it. This HQ version is much better than the French radio rip I downloaded. It's a touch slower, which I noticed in the Sunsilk ad, which I like, plus it has an intro and outro that were missing from the rip. That takes the song to an actual 4 minutes, which should shut up the bloggers who were complaining about a song called "4 Minutes" that only ran about three. The horns sound less mechanized, ditto on the vocals. I'm excited for the new album, I hear The Neptunes and my boy Kanye also lay down some production. Should be a hot one!
