Lily Allen Has Does Her Make Up In The Loo (Oh, And Releases Video For "22")

My girl Lils has released the fourth video from her fantastic It's Not Me, It's You. "22" is one of the best tracks from that release, at once a cautionary tale about the dangers of whiling away your 20s and a slam at society's dislike of the "over-30 woman." Plus, it has a kicky chorus.

The video definitely sticks closer to the cautionary portion of the song. Lily walks into the ladies room to fix her lipstick, looking a little worse for the wear. In the mirror she still looks chic and dapper, but her hair is mussed and she's wearing a bit thicker makeup in real life. Later, the reverse is true. The video is glossy but lacks any real punch. I'm glad she's releasing a song with some hope of US radio airplay after the silly down-home sound of "Not Fair" and the uncensorable "Fuck You." Doesn't mean radio will play it, but a boy can dream. Love it! Although confused like you over what the message was. I mean, is it wrong to say that Lily looked great all made up? Or is that not getting the point... Oh no!

I know, the song alone would indicate society is in the wrong for giving up on a 30-something, but the video makes it seem it's her own fault for being a party girl.

I think the point is Lily looks hot, no matter what.
